Okay, don’t trust your phone. I just heard of a problem where a printer manufacturer (a big one) had their phone system hacked and the calls were diverted. It happened multiple times over a few days. The people who answered pretended to be support for the big printer company and proceeded to instruct the user to allow them into the system. Once in they pretended to be sorting out the issue but while there they stole personal information, including passwords to financial institutions.

IF YOU THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG IT POSSIBLY IS

If someone offers to take control of your computer try to find some way of verifying who they really are. If you call Acer support, for example, and they send you somewhere other than their own website to give them control? Give yourself some piece of mind and call back.
